Portrait Tutorial- AaronU-age 15
Do you enjoy being creative? Are you interested in art? This easy-to-follow tutorial will show you how to draw a simple portrait from a picture or, better yet, from your imagination!

First, we need to draw the character's head. A male character will have a firm, strong jaw(the examples in this tutorial are for a male character). A female character will have a soft, rounded jaw.

Next, we need to proportion to face of the character. Draw in some easy-to-erase lines onto the head to show where the facial features are located. I recommend doing the eye-guidelines first and then arrange the others around that.

Now, lets start adding some detail. Draw simple shapes for the eyes, mouth, nose, and ears. You should also draw in two lines to show the position of the eyebrows.

Then, we can begin to "clean up" the drawing. Erase all the guidelines you have put in, but be careful not to obstruct the actual drawing. You may add to the neck and body also.

Time for more detail. Color in the hair, facial hair, ears, and eyeballs. For the hair, try not to just scribble on the page. Draw eack individual hair and shade in around them. The eyes should be lightly shaded, with a darker, smaller pupal in the center.

Finally, to finish off the drawing, we need to do a bit of shading. To know where to shade you must decide where the light soarce is. If light is coming from straight ahead, there will be a little bit of shading on both sides. If the light is coming from the side, you should begin shading on the opposite side. To shade, scribble a little bit of lead on the place you wish to shade, and spread around with your finger.
